South No. 16 – Austin Peay (Overall: 18-17, Conf: 7-9)
Team Strengths:
Looking for an underdog team to root for that has fantastic momentum heading into the Big Dance? Look no further than Austin Peay.
The Governors won their last six contests of the season, including the Ohio Valley Conference championship game. Oh, and did we mention that they were the eighth and final seed in that tournament, and that they also needed to win their last two regular season games just to qualify for the OVC title hunt?Create a betting account now and cash in on all the NCAAB action.
Team Weaknesses:
Beyond senior center Chris Horton and sophomore guard Josh Robinson, the Governors are left with no other viable options in their roster that can at least realistically compete with most of the Big Dance’s more imposing programs.
Speaking of imposing, Austin Peay even has the tallest order amongst all other aspiring teams at the tournament: having to face and hopefully defeat No. 1 Kansas in the first round. Can a team fueled merely by a six-game high trump the one and only school in the nation to reach the 30-win plateau? We highly doubt it.
