Betting on the Alabama Crimson Tide (19-14)
Collin Sexton is just playing out of this mind right now. After scoring 27 points in Alabama’s 71-70 win on Thursday over Texas A&M, the freshman continued his hot stretch Friday, when he dropped 31 points in 31 minutes to help the Crimson Tide take down Auburn, 81-63. Sexton, who shot 10-for-16 from the field against the Tigers, has not made at least 56 percent of his shots from the field in each of Alabama’s last two outings. Without a doubt, Alabama will continue to ride Sexton’s hot hand in the SEC semifinals versus Kentucky, against which the Crimson Tide lost to, 81-71, in Lexington, on Feb. 17. Sexton scored 12 points in that game. The Crimson Tide, however, will have to find a way to keep Kentucky off the glass, as they were greatly outrebounded by the Wildcats in the first meeting, 44-27.
Alabama, which finished the regular season, with an average of 72.4 points per game, is 3-0 ATS in its last three games.
Betting on the Kentucky Wildcats (22-10)
Kentucky punched its ticket to the SEC semifinals with a 62-49 victory over Georgia, which was a nice bounce-back win for the Wildcats following a loss to Florida in their regular-season finale. While the Wildcats have the guards to match up with Sexton, they will be looking also for their big men to dominate the boards and score plenty of easy putbacks. In their win against Alabama, the Wildcats had 44 rebounds against the Crimson Tide’s 27. That includes 20 offensive rebounds for the Wildcats, who are one of the top rebounding teams in the nation with 39.3 boards per game. Kevin Knox paced the team in the regular season with 15.7 points per game, while fellow guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander put up 13.2 per outing.
The Wildcats are 9-1 SU and 6-4 ATS in their last 10 games against Alabama.
Writer’s Prediction
Kentucky wins, 77-73.
