Betting on the Arizona Cardinals (3-5-1)
Moral victories don’t matter at the end of the day, but the Cardinals can still feel encouraged over their close 28-25 home loss over the NFC leaders, San Francisco 49ers in Week 9. The Cardinals came close to upsetting San Francisco, which they probably would have if they only had David Johnson leading the ground attack. Johnson missed the game due to a bothersome ankle, but assured reporters on Wednesday that he’s going to suit up and take the field against the Buccaneers. Johnson and Kenyan Drake form a formidable backfield tandem for Arizona, though, they could find it difficult to get by Tampa Bay’s stout defense against the run. That means rookie quarterback Kyler Murray has to be more creative in the passing game of the Cardinals that is 19th in the NFL with 223.9 yards per contest.
The Cardinals are 6-3-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 games away from Glendale.
Betting on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-6)
The Bucs enter Week 10 coming off a heart-breaking 40-34 overtime loss on the road to the Seattle Seahawks. Tampa Bay’s defense has yet to be fixed several weeks into the season. It continues to bleed from the abuse of opponents, who are averaging 31.5 points per game. The Bucs’ pass defense is mostly the problem of their stout unit, but even if that remains to be the case this weekend, Tampa Bay’s offense can be the one to save them again. The Cardinals are also a bad defensive team, allowing 27.9 points per game –28th most in the NFL — one that Jameis Winston and company can punish. We’ve seen this before in their upset win over the Los Angeles Rams on the road back in Week 4 wherein Tampa Bay put up 55 points and 464 total yards, while giving up 40 points and over 500 total yards to Sean McVay’s team. Mike Evans and Chris Godwin should cause headaches for the Cardinals’ secondary that hasn’t shown much bite all season long.
The over is 6-0 in the Bucs’ last six games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Bucs win, 35-24.
