Betting on the Arkansas Razorbacks (odds)
Record: 12-5 Overall/1-4 Conference
Arkansas is on a slump, with the Razorbacks losing all their last three games. But perhaps another game against the last team they beat could get the Razorbacks back on track. Arkansas, which lost to the Vanderbilt Commodores last Saturday on the road, 97-84, defeated the Missouri Tigers at home on Jan. 4, 74-68. In that game, Arkansas leading scorer Ricky Council IV exploded for 25 points, thanks in large part to an 11/13 shooting from the foul line. Council could still be hot when he takes on Mizzou’s defense again, especially since he just scored 24 points in the Vanderbilt game. But it was their rebounding that really keyed the success of Arkansas in the first meeting with Missouri, as the Razorbacks won the battle on the glass by a wide margin, 40-23.
The Under is 6-3-a in Arkansas’ last 10 games overall.
Betting on the Missouri Tigers (odds)
Record: 13-4 Overall/2-3 Conference
Missouri dropped to 2-3 in SEC play after the Tigers lost to the Florida Gators on the road last Saturday to the tune of a 73-64 score. All of Mizzou’s losses against SEC teams so far this season have been on the road, so a return back to Columbia could just be what the doctor ordered for the Tigers, who still own a lethal offense. So far this season, Missouri is ninth in the nation with 117.7 points per 100 possessions. Their offense hasn’t been right of late, but the Tigers can take advantage of Arkansas’ defense that has been coughing blood of late. Arkansas’ last four opponents have posted an effective field goal percentage of 50% or better. Florida had an astounding 60.7 eFG% versus the Razorbacks.
Missouri is 5-5 against the spread in its last 10 games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
Missouri wins, 77-75.
