In typical Arsenal fashion, they’re once again turning it on late in the season when the pressure is off. The Gunners took care of bottom club Sunderland 2-0 at home to extend their current winning streak to four games. They’ve won six of their last seven league games overall.

Arsenal remain just one point behind Liverpool for the fourth and final Champions League place, and three points behind Manchester City in third. The Gunners need some help to overtake either, but they first need to take care of business and beat Everton.

Despite rumors about his looming exit this summer, Alexis Sanchez continued his impressive end to the season with a brace against Sunderland. The Chilean has scored four goals in his last three games, giving him 23 goals in 35 league games this season. He also scored in Arsenal’s 2-1 away defeat to Everton earlier in the season.

Home-field will definitely be an advantage for Arsenal. The Gunners are unbeaten in their last six home games, including four wins in a row. Meanwhile, their domination over Everton at home during the Premier League era has been nothing short of remarkable. Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 20 home games against Everton (16 wins, 4 draws).

Everton finally snapped a three-match winless run as they recorded a 1-0 victory over Watford at home. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that the Toffees ended their skid at home. The difference between Everton’s home and away form has been night and day for most of the season. Thirteen of their 17 wins this season have come at home, and eight of their 10 losses have come away.

Their recent away record has been especially troubling. They have failed to record a win in their last seven games outside of Goodison Park (three losses, four draws). They haven’t even recorded a goal in their last two away games against Swansea and West Ham.

With Everton firmly locked into seventh place in the table, they could be lacking in any sort of motivation in this matchup with Arsenal. That possible lack of fire, coupled with their awful away form, doesn’t bode well for their chances to escape the Emirates with any sort of positive result.

Writer’s Prediction

Arsenal hold up their end of the bargain as they get another home win over Everton, 2-0.
