Redemption is on the mind of Arsenal after kicking off the new season on a bad note—an opening-game loss (3-4) to Liverpool at Emirates Stadium last weekend. That setback marked the third time in the past four seasons that the team has lost its opener, all of which were played at home.

Still, you have to give some credit to the Gunners, who were missing a number of injured veteran starters (Olivier Giroud, Danny Welbeck, Mesut Ozil and Per Mertesacker) during that game. Theo Walcott hit the first goal of the game at the 31st minute, but unfortunately the opposing side delivered the next four scores which were eventually enough to hold off any attempt of a comeback from the hosts.

Making matters worse, is that Arsenal’s lineup has taken a number of injury bites again as the pair of Aaron Ramsey and Alex Iwobi hobbled off the pitch in the last game. But the squad, luckily, will be reinforced with the returns of Giroud, Welbeck, Ozil and Mertesacker, who all should provide the stability and experience that the Gunners clearly lacked in their first match.

Arsenal, for your information, was the only side last season to snatch two wins against Liverpool. That also included the Foxes’ lone home defeat.

Betting on Leicester City (+180)

Like Arsenal, Leicester City’s start to the new season didn’t go as planned, succumbing to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Hull City. That game also made them the first Premier League champions to lose the first game of their title defense.

The Foxes, though, can look at this unfortunate result as a hard reminder that they’re in for another dogfight this season, especially as the defending champions. They can start looking like one when they welcome the Gunners to King Power Stadium for their first home game of the season this weekend.

History isn’t on the side of Leicester, as it is currently on a 19-game winless run (six draws, 13 losses) against Arsenal in the Premiere League. But the reigning champs can take pride on the fact that they’ve only lost five of their past 48 outings in the same league.

Plus, forward Riyad Mahrez, who was last year’s PFA Player of the Year, won’t allow his club to remain winless, or go down without a fight. He remains to be the best weapon and the heartbeat of the Leicester offense. Mahrez scored his team’s lone goal in the opening loss to the Tigers on Sunday.

Writer’s Prediction

Leicester City (+180) should win here, 2-1, since this game will be held at their home turf.
