Baylor has reached a milestone in their program history after making it to the top 5 of the BCS rankings for the first time. With a couple of losses dealt to top teams this week and a win over Texas Tech, the Bears could have a shot at a BCS Bowl appearance. But they shouldn’t look too far past the Red Raiders, especially given that the field in Lubbock hasn’t been very kind to them in the past.

Betting on the Baylor Bears:
For the first time this season, Bryce Petty threw for less than 300 yards in a game and Baylor failed to score a touchdown in the first quarter. It was the same result for the Bears, however, earning their eighth straight win to seize the top spot in the Big 12 conference.
Petty managed to get his name ringing a little louder in Heisman discussions by putting up a solid game last Thursday, helping the Bears propel past No. 10 Oklahoma, 41-12. [sc:NCAA240banner ]
Petty completed 13 of his 26 attempts and connected for three touchdowns against the Sooners. Baylor also got a big boost from third string running back, Shock Linwood, who lived up to his name by stunning Oklahoma’s defense with 182 rushing yards on 23 carries – both season-highs for him.
The Bears lead the nation in scoring with 61.0 PPG, and the big drop from their average in the game against Oklahoma could be attributed to their uncharacteristic showing in the first quarter, when they were limited to just three points. Baylor tops the FBS with 19.9 points average in the opening period.
The Bears are 7-1 ATS so far this season. They’re also on a three-game ATS win streak.
Betting on the Texas Tech:
November has indeed been a month of horror for the Red Raiders. Since 2011, the team is 1-9 SU in this month and their 49-26 loss to Kansas State last Saturday was a continuation of this scary trend and the latest debacle for the young Red Raiders.
Texas Tech began the season like a house on fire, winning seven straight games – although those were mostly against unranked teams. Things changed quickly the moment Kliff Kingsbury’s squad took on some of the top contenders. The Red Raiders were stopped abruptly by Oklahoma, 38-30, in their last October game. That loss marked the start of their current skid, succeeded by a 52-24 defeat at the hands of Oklahoma State, then the loss to the Wildcats.

To do that, they’ll need to maximize their deadly air attack, which is No. 1 in FBS at 408.2 yards per game. Quarterbacks Davis Webb and Baker Mayfield have accounted for all but three yards of Texas Tech’s season total of 4082 passing yards.
Their match against Baylor is Texas Tech’s last in Lubbock this season. Though Texas Tech has lost its last two games against the Bears, both those games were played on the road. It’s been a different story at home, where the Red Raiders are 10-0 SU in their last 10 versus Baylor.
