Top 5 College Football Games to Watch in Week 7

Saturday, Oct. 15

Kansas State (+10.5) vs. #19 Oklahoma (-10.5) – 12:00 NN ET, ESPN

Oklahoma’s College Football Playoff odds may be dead, but with big wins over TCU and Texas in the past two weeks, the Sooners have shown they’re still one of, if not the team to beat in the Big 12.

However, the Sooners will face a stiff test with the visit of Kansas State and its very good defense. K-State coach Bill Snyder has come away a winner in his last two trips to Norman, and is 5-1 ATS in his last six road games against the Sooners.

Writer’s Prediction: K-State (+10.5) covers again in a 31-21 loss.

North Carolina (+7.5) vs. #16 Miami (-7.5) – 3:30 PM ET, ABC

North Carolina and Miami were two of the hottest teams in the ACC heading into last week, but both were stopped in their tracks with losses to Virginia Tech and Florida State, respectively. Both teams will now look to bounce back and keep pace with undefeated Tech atop the Coastal Division.

North Carolina’s offense could only muster 131 total yards last week amid poor weather conditions brought about by Hurricane Matthew. Miami’s terrific defense proved its worth by limiting the Noles to just 20 points in Tallahassee, but the Tar Heels will provide another stern test to The U’s D.

Writer’s Prediction: North Carolina (+7.5) covers in a 35-31 loss.

#1 Alabama (-13) vs. #9 Tennessee (+13) – 3:30 PM ET, CBS

As things stand, Alabama vs. Tennessee could very well be this year’s SEC championship game. However, the Vols’ spot in that game could be put in doubt if they lose their second game in a row, which could see them fall behind Florida in the East.

Tennessee’s luck finally ran out in a tough overtime loss to Texas A&M. But the Vols have played the Tide pretty tough in the last couple of years. They are 2-0 ATS in their last two meetings with Bama, and pushed the eventual champions all the way in a close 19-14 loss in Tuscaloosa last year.

Writer’s Prediction: Alabama wins, 34-24, but Tennessee (+13) covers.

#12 Ole Miss (-7.5) vs. #22 Arkansas (+7.5) – 7:00 PM ET, ESPN

If you didn’t catch the ending of last year’s Ole Miss vs. Arkansas game, do so now. In one of the wildest plays of the year, the Razorbacks somehow managed to upset the Rebels on the road with a miraculous play in overtime.

Don’t think the Rebs have forgotten. Ole Miss will be looking for revenge on the struggling Hogs, who are still winless in the conference and have lost their first two conference games against Texas A&M and Alabama by 19 points – at home.

Writer’s Prediction: Ole Miss (-7.5) rolls to a 38-28 road win.

#2 Ohio State (-10) vs. #8 Wisconsin (+10) – 8:00 PM ET, ABC

It’s the second all-top-10, all-Big Ten showdown for Wisconsin in as many games. The Badgers gave a good account of themselves a couple weeks ago against Michigan, as they managed to survive with a creditable 14-7 loss at the Big House.

Their next test will come at home against No. 2-ranked Ohio State. The last time the two teams met, it was in the 2014 Big Ten championship game. The Buckeyes blew the doors off the Badgers, 59-0, on their way to winning the inaugural College Football Playoff. A road win against Wisconsin will go a long way in the Buckeyes’ bid to return to the title game this year.

Writer’s Prediction: Ohio State (-10) gets the big road win, 28-14.
