The New York Yankees returned to winning ways Sunday with an emphatic 12-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox. Jacoby Ellsbury and Mark Teixeira homered for the Yankees who finished their 10-game road trip with a 6-4 record. The Yankees will look to keep the momentum going when they take on the Boston Red Sox at Yankee Stadium later tonight.
[sc:MLB240banner ]Starting for New York this evening is Masahiro Tanaka (7-4, 3.80 ERA). The Yankees have won five of their last six games with Tanaka as their starter. He struggled, however, in his last outing, allowing four runs on nine hits in six innings of action in New York’s 5-2 loss to Texas. He is 2-2 with a 4.70 ERA in four career starts vs. Boston.
The Red Sox, on the other hand, will counter with left-hander Henry Owens. The 23-year-old will be making his Major League debut tonight after replacing the injured Rick Porcello in the starting rotation. He posted a solid 3.16 ERA in Triple-A Pawtucket this season.
The total has gone over in the Yankees’ last four home games against the Red Sox.

The Los Angeles Dodgers stretched their unbeaten run to four games with a thrilling 5-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday. Andre Ethier hit a dramatic two-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning to help the Dodgers record just their second-ever three-game sweep of the Angels. The Dodgers will look to keep the winning streak alive when they face the Philadelphia Phillies in the opening game of their three-game set tonight.
Pitching for the Dodgers this evening is Alex Wood (7-6, 3.54 ERA). Wood, who was acquired by the Dodgers in a 13-player, three-team deal this past trading deadline, has a career record of 21-20 with a 3.10 ERA the last three seasons. He last pitched against Baltimore on July 27, hurling 7.1 scoreless innings.
The Phillies, on the other hand, will have Jerome Williams (3-8, 6.36 ERA) as their starting pitcher tonight. Philadelphia has lost seven of its last eight games with Williams as its starter. He has a 5.91 ERA in two starts since returning from the disabled list.
