We’re getting nearer to the College Football Playoff but let’s not get too excited. There are other bowl games to drool over like these two matchups today. Let’s take a brief look at the Nebraska vs. Tennessee Music City Bowl game and the Michigan vs. FSU Orange Bowl game below.
Nebraska Cornhuskers vs. Tennessee Volunteers (3:30 PM ET)
Line: Nebraska Cornhuskers (TBA) vs. Tennessee Volunteers (TBA) – view all NCAAF lines
Nebraska and Tennessee each look to end the season on a positive note following disappointing regular season performances. Nebraska began the season winning its first seven games but lost three of its last five, including the Cornhuskers’ 40-10 season ending loss to Iowa. Nevertheless, Nebraska will look to net a bowl win probably by relying on its backfield that produces 178.2 rushing yards per game, 62nd in the nation. The Vols, on the other hand, carry an 8-4 record into Nashville this Friday. Tennessee features a more balanced offense, one that is 42nd in passing attack and 62nd in rushing. Nebraska, however, has the stouter defense, as it allows just 22.8 PPG. Tennessee, meanwhile, surrenders 29.3 PPG.
Writer’s Prediction
Tennessee wins 29-23.
Michigan Wolverines vs. Florida State Seminoles (8:00 PM ET)
Line: Michigan Wolverines (-7) vs. Florida State Seminoles (+7); total: 52.5 – view all NCAAF lines
It’s our last chance this year to a potential Jim Harbaugh sideline histrionics, which, alone, is enough to keep us interested in this game. But seriously, this matchup between the Wolverines and the Seminoles is must-watch football. Michigan’s second-ranked defense is going to be put on a litmus test by Dalvin Cook and the Seminoles’ offense that averages 35.3 PPG. Michigan is 3-1 ATS in its last four games as a favorite by eight points or fewer. Florida State is 3-0 ATS in its last three games as an underdog.
Writer’s Prediction
Michigan (-7) wins, 31-28.
