The Yankees look to bounce back from a devastating 7-5 loss to Boston on Thursday, as they send Luis Cessa to the mound. Cessa was last seen on the mound in a 4-2 loss to Tampa Bay on September 11, allowing four earned runs on five hits across 5.2 innings of action. The Red Sox will counter with Clay Buchholz, who is 6-10 with a 5.31 ERA thus far this season. Buchholz had it rough in his recent start, giving up six earned runs on just four hits in three innings, albeit in an 11-8 win against Toronto last Monday. The Yankees are 5-0 in their last five meetings against Buchholz. The Red Sox are 5-5 in their last 10 home games.

Writer’s Prediction

New York (+150) wins, 6-5.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. San Francisco Giants (10:15 PM ET)

Line: St. Louis Cardinals (+120) vs. San Francisco Giants (-130); total: 7.5 – view all MLB lines

The Cards dropped Game 1 of their series with San Francisco Thursday, 6-2. They aim a return in the win column later tonight, when they give the ball to Luke Weaver. Weaver is 1-2 with a 3.48 ERA in six starts on the season. Over at the other side, it’ll be Matt Moore, who’ll look to hush St. Louis’ bats. Moore pitched great last Monday, giving up just two earned runs on eight hits, while fanning 11 in a 5-3 victory over Arizona on the road.

Writer’s Prediction

San Francisco (-130) wins, 4-2.
