Line: Houston Rockets (+10) vs. San Antonio Spurs (-10); total: 205.0 – view all NBA lines
[sc:NBA250 ]Houston enters this contest riding on a three-game winning streak with the latest one coming against the Pelicans on Monday. In that game, the hero of the night was none other than James Harden, who continued his stellar play with 35 points, 11 boards and eight assists under his belt. He’ll try to lead the Rockets once again when they collide with another Southwest Division rival in the form of the San Antonio Spurs.
Speaking of the Spurs, they were emphatically sent back down to earth by the Warriors, who crushed them with the final score of 120-90. That loss snapped San Antonio’s 13-game winning streak and marked their seventh loss of the season. The Spurs, who are currently the best defensive team in the league (90.4 points allowed per game), will look to quickly bounce back when they play host to the surging Rockets.
Houston is 5-5 SU and 4-6 ATS in its last 10 road games. San Antonio, meanwhile, is 24-0 at home this season.
Writer’s Prediction
San Antonio (-10) wins, 105-92.
Charlotte Hornets vs. Utah Jazz (9:00 PM ET)
Line: Charlotte Hornets (+5.5) vs. Utah Jazz (-5.5); total: 191.0 – view all NBA lines
Like Houston, the Hornets march into this matchup as winners of their previous three games. In that run, their offense has been sizzling hot, tallying 115.3 points per game. A testament to this has been their beloved point guard in Kemba Walker.
Walker, the team’s top point-getter this season, is averaging 32.0 points in his previous five contests. That stretch includes a career-performance opposite Utah on January 18, during which he finished with 52 points to give his team the thrilling 124-119 victory. Walker will look to repeat this effort when he faces the Jazz again. But this time, the crowd won’t be on Charlotte’s side.
As for the Jazz, they’ll be aiming to get back on track after losing to the Pistons on Monday night, 95-82. Gordon Hayward and Rodney Hood contributed 22 points and 23 points respectively, but unfortunately their efforts were wasted. Nevertheless, the two should be able to build on their performances against a Hornets squad that’s yielding more than 100 points per game this season.
Charlotte is 2-8 SU and 4-6 ATS in its past 10 games on the road. Utah, on the other hand, is 6-4 SU and ATS in its last 10 at home.
Writer’s Prediction
Jazz (-5.5) bounce back with a double-digit victory.
