The Sacramento Kings (9-5) have been among the early surprises this season, but they’re going to need more wins against the other top teams before we can take them too seriously as title contenders. They have a chance to get one tonight against the Houston Rockets, who are currently fourth in the Western Conference with an 11-3 record. In another matchup, the Indiana Pacers (6-8) look to test their mettle against the San Antonio Spurs (9-4).
Meanwhile, tomorrow’s a big day in the NFL, as the league will roll out a Thanksgiving Day three-game bonanza, which you can enjoy watching while munching on your turducken. You can read our viewing guide for all of those games here.
[sc:NBAArticles ]Sacramento Kings vs. Houston Rockets (8:00 PM ET)
Line: Sacramento Kings (+5) at Houston Rockets (-5); total 192.5 – view all NBA lines
[sc:NBA240banner ]Despite missing the services of their two starters in Darren Collison (quadriceps) and Rudy Gay (Achilles) – both listed as questionable for tonight’s game – the Sacramento Kings were still able to come up with a 99-89 win over the New Orleans Pelicans Tuesday to improve their record to 9-5. The Kings will seek to extend their current win streak to four games when they pay the Houston Rockets a visit later tonight. Sacramento is 4-0 ATS in its last four games.
Like the Kings, the Rockets also are dealing with injuries to a couple of their starters. Dwight Howard (knee) and Patrick Beverley (hamstring) are questionable for the game against Sacramento so expect James Harden to carry the bulk of the team’s offense tonight. Harden scored 36 points in the Rockets’ 91-86 win over the New York Knicks last Monday. Houston is 4-1 ATS in its last five home games against the Kings.
Writer’s Prediction
The Rockets win, 101-92.
Indiana Pacers vs. San Antonio Spurs (8:30 PM ET)
Line: Indiana Pacers (+12.5) at San Antonio Spurs (-12.5); total 185.0 – view all NBA lines
The banged up Indiana Pacers continued to play well despite their lumps as they won their third game in four last Monday when they beat the Dallas Mavericks, 111-110. Roy Hibbert, who missed Monday’s contest to nurse an ankle injury, may sit for the second game in a row, leaving Ian Mahinmi (11.0 PPG, 8.5 RPG in the last two games) as the Pacers’ potential starting center later tonight. Indiana will face their toughest test yet this season from the defending champions San Antonio Spurs, who are coming off a 99-87 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday to open up a three-game homestand.
The Pacers are 6-0 ATS in their last six road games, while the Spurs are 8-2 SU in their last 10 home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Spurs win, 105-88.
