Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Milwaukee Brewers (4:10 PM ET)
Line: Arizona Diamondbacks (-138) at Milwaukee Brewers (+128); total 8.5 – view all MLB lines
The Arizona Diamondbacks have been the hottest team in the majors, going 10-1 in their last 11 games. And now, ace Zack Greinke will be on the mound as they look to pick up their sixth straight win. Greinke has gone 4-0 with a 2.37 ERA in four starts in May.
Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Brewers have been headed in the exact opposite direction with five losses in a row. Their starter, Chase Anderson, has also been on a downward trajectory after a strong start. The 29-year-old righty has failed to make it past the fifth inning in three of his last four starts, with an ugly 7.71 ERA.
Writer’s Prediction
Greinke and the D-backs (-138) keep rolling as they beat the slumping Brewers.
Chicago Cubs vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (7:15 PM ET)
Line: Chicago Cubs (+112) at Los Angeles Dodgers (-122); total 8.0 – view all MLB lines
The Cubs will look to bounce back after they had their three-game win streak snapped last night in a 4-0 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Cubs have gone 3-0 this season after getting shut out the previous game. The struggling John Lackey will get the start, though. The veteran righty has given up 8 earned runs on 14 hits (4 home runs) in his last two starts.
Meanwhile, the Dodgers will counter with Brandon McCarthy. The right-hander is coming off one of his best outings of the season, giving up just one run in six innings against the Miami Marlins. His best outing, though, was a six-inning shutout of the Cubs on April 12 to lead the Dodgers to a 2-0 win.
Writer’s Prediction
The Cubs (+112) bounce back to take Game 2 over the Dodgers.
