New York is expecting another solid effort from its beloved starter in Jacob deGrom (7-5, 2.30 ERA). He’s been dominating since the All-Star break, going 2-1 with an ERA of 1.56 in six starts. The former NL Rookie of the Year should be able to keep his form up versus the Giants—a team which he’s never lost to. deGrom is 3-0 with a 0.86 ERA through three career starts in this matchup.
As for the hosts, they’re putting their trust on their ace in Madison Bumgarner (11-7, 2.11 ERA). He registered seven scoreless innings versus Baltimore in his last start. Bumgarner has also pitched magnificently in 13 starts at home this season, holding a win-loss mark of 6-3 with a 1.47 ERA, a 0.83 WHIP and a .174 opponents’ batting average.
