It’s back to the drawing board again for the Texas Longhorns, who fell flat against the visiting Baylor Bears on Saturday, 78-64. In that game,Isaiah Taylor and Javan Felix were held below their usual averages, combining for just 15 points in total for Texas. Both will now try to redeem themselves tonight in their road game versus the Kansas State Wildcats.Speaking of the Wildcats, they also head into this game coming off a tough setback to the second-ranked Kansas Jayhawks. The Wildcats had four starters scoring in double-figures during the game and it was Stephen Hurt’s 13 points and nine rebounds that led the way for them. But don’t expect Hurt to replicate this performance later as he’s only contributing 6.6 points on the season.
That said, look to Kansas State’s hardworking duo of Wesley Iwundu and Justin Edwards to take charge of garnering the buckets. Edwards, in particular, should be able to impose his will later, as he’s managed to put up 14 PPG over his last five contests, including a 19-point outburst opposite the Bears on February 10.
Texas is 4-6 SU and 6-4 ATS in its past 10 road games. Kansas State, on the other hand, is 6-4 SU and 5-5 ATS in its previous 10 at home.
Writer’s Prediction
Longhorns win it, but they don’t cover the spread.
Iowa State Cyclones vs. West Virginia Mountaineers (9:00 PM ET)
Line: Iowa State Cyclones (+5) at West Virginia Mountaineers (-5) – view all NCAA Basketball lines
Following a gut-wrenching loss to Baylor, the No. 13 Iowa State Cyclones responded back with a much-needed win over TCU on Saturday night, 92-83. Starring in that game was the pair of Georges Niang and Deonte Burton, who combined for 51 points and 16 boards. The two, though, might have their work cut out for them opposite a West Virginia defense that’s only allowing 66.0 points per game this season.
As for the Mountaineers, they’ll be trying to stop the bleeding after losing back-to-back games to Texas and Oklahoma. Expect Devin Williams and Jaysean Paige, who are both racking up at least 13 points per contest this year, to lead West Virginia’s attack from start to finish. They’ll be opposing a leaky Iowa State defense that’s giving up 75.1 points per game.
Iowa State is 2-3 SU and ATS in its last five games on the road. West Virginia, meanwhile, is 8-2 SU and 6-4 ATS in its past 10 home games.
