Tremendous pitching has been a big part of the Dodgers’ success of late. Los Angeles is on a five-game win streak and has won the series opener against the Cards on Monday, 5-1. The Dodgers, who have outscored opponents in the last five games, 30-5, will have Kenta Maeda on the mound in Game 2.
The Dodgers are 4-0 in Kenta Maeda’s (4-2, 5.08 ERA) last four starts. Maeda is 2-0 with a 2.95 ERA in three starts this month. Over at the side of the Cards, they are just 1-4 in their last five games and will be pinning their hopes on Michael Wacha. Wacha (2-2, 3.66 ERA), however, is coming off a bad outing, allowing six earned runs on seven hits in just four inning of a 7-3 road loss to the Dodgers on May 25.
Writer’s Prediction
Los Angeles wins, 5-3.
Boston Red Sox vs. Chicago White Sox (8:10 PM ET)
Line: Boston Red Sox vs. Chicago White Sox – view all MLB lines
Chris Sale had his streak of double-figure strikeouts stopped at eight starts last May 24, but took home a win in a 9-4 home victory over Texas. Sale allowed three earned runs on six hits across 7.1 frames while fanning out six Rangers.
Sale will face next and for the first time his former team, the White Sox, later tonight. Sale (5-2 with a 2.34 ERA) is very familiar in pitching at Guaranteed Rate Field (formerly U.S. Cellular Field) after spending his first seven seasons in White Sox uniform. Sale is 42-24 with a 3.01 ERA in 117 appearances at the said park.
As for the White Sox, they’ll counter their former ace with Jose Quintana, who is 2-6 with a 4.82 ERA so far this season. The White Sox are 2-0 in Quintana’s last two home starts.
Writer’s Prediction
Boston wins, 6-3.
