San Antonio Spurs vs. Philadelphia 76ers (7:00 PM ET)
Line: San Antonio Spurs (-11) vs. Philadelphia 76ers (+11); total: 208.5 – view all NBA lines
San Antonio’s rodeo trip is off to disappointing start after losing to Memphis, 89-74, on Monday. The Spurs sorely missed the services of the injured Kawhi Leonard as they recorded their lowest-scoring night of the season. It was a shocking performance by San Antonio who had reached 100 points in 27 straight games.
The Spurs will look to get their season back on track when they lock horns with Philadelphia tonight. With Leonard (quad contusion) still questionable for this evening’s clash, the pressure is on LaMarcus Aldridge to do the heavy lifting for the Spurs. He struggled mightily in the loss to the Grizzlies, scoring 13 points on just 4-of-19 shooting from the field. Aldridge will be licking his chops at the prospect of facing a Sixers frontline that is still without Joel Embiid. The Process has missed the Sixers’ last six games with a left knee problem. Philadelphia is just 1-5 during this span.
The Spurs are 5-0 SU and 3-2 ATS in their last five road games against the Grizzlies.
Writer’s Prediction
San Antonio (-11) wins, 102-88.
Boston Celtics vs. Sacramento Kings (10:30 PM ET)
Line: Boston Celtics (-8.5) vs. Sacramento Kings (+8.5); total: 212.0 – view all NBA lines
The Boston Celtics will put their seven-game winning streak on the line when they lock horns with the Sacramento Kings at Golden 1 Center later tonight. The Celtics are coming off an impressive 107-102 victory over the LA Clippers on Sunday. Isaiah Thomas had 28 points and 8 assists for the Celtics who moved to within 2.5 games of the Cleveland Cavaliers for the top spot in the Eastern Conference standings.
Thomas and the rest of the Celtics will be licking their chops at the prospect of facing a Sacramento side that’s just 9-15 at home this season. With their 112-107 defeat to Chicago on Monday, the Kings have now lost four of their last five games. To make matters worse for head coach Dave Joerger, big man DeMarcus Cousins picked up his 16th technical foul in that matchup and as a result will miss the crunch showdown against Boston. With Cousins sidelined, the onus is on Ty Lawson to carry the scoring cudgels for the Kings. He scored 22 points in the loss to the Bulls.
The Kings are 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS in their last five home games against the Celtics.
Writer’s Prediction
Boston (-8.5) not only wins but also covers the spread against Sacramento.
