NBA News & Predictions

Sacramento Kings vs. Golden State Warriors (10:30 PM ET)

Line: Sacramento Kings vs. Golden State Warriors – view all NBA lines

Tuesday night, the Kings escaped Staples Center with a thrilling 97-96 win over the Los Angeles Lakers, thanks to DeMarcus Cousins’s big game – 40 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists.

For tonight’s contest, Cousins (28 PPG, 11.8 RPG, 4.8 APG) and his crew will be bringing the confidence of a four-game winning streak and the recent 109-106 victory over the Warriors. In that meeting, Sac-town survived Stephen Curry’s 35-point (eight threes) onslaught by holding Curry’s teammates to just 37.3-percent shooting.

The two-time defending West champs, meanwhile, will be fresh off a surprising blowout loss to the Denver Nuggets, 132-110, where they got blasted with an NBA-record-tying 24 threes. The Warriors were probably exhausted by all the energy they put in the revenge game against the Grizzles and Kevin Durant’s emotional return to Oklahoma, wherein the Dubs both came out victorious.

Expect the high-powered play of the Warriors to be very aggressive on this game. They are number one in scoring (118.4 PPG) and offensive efficiency, while also ranking second in overall defense.

Writer’s Prediction

The Warriors win, 124-108.

Atlanta Hawks vs. Los Angeles Clippers (10:30 PM ET)

Line: Atlanta Hawks (+2.5) vs. Los Angeles Clippers (-2.5) – total: 213.0 – view all NBA lines

Excluding a pair of back-to-back wins, the Hawks are now alternating wins and losses in their last 17 games. They will be entering Wednesday’s affair coming off a victory, where they edged out the Portland Trail Blazers in OT, 109-104. Three Hawks had 20-plus points (Dwight Howard had 19), but Paul Millsap was the overwhelming best player of the game, as he obliterated the stat sheet for 21 points, nine rebounds, five assists, two steals, and four blocks.

Against the Clippers, Millsap should be joined by Howard, Dennis Schroder, and Tim Hardaway in piling up points and containing their foes’ attack. The four combined for 81 points in their 115-105 loss to with the Clipps last January 23rd.

For Doc Rivers’s team, meanwhile, the game will be an attempt to head to the All-Star break with a four-game winning streak. They just comfortably posted a win on Monday, 88-72, where their defense held the Utah Jazz to an ugly 32.2-percent shooting.

In the said victory over the Hawks weeks back, Austin Rivers was the man for the Clippers, scoring 27 points (five threes) and dishing out six assists. He’s been netting 16.2 points and 4.2 assists since becoming a full-time starter in late Decemeber, and he’ll look to continue increasing his PPG average Wednesday night.

Expect Blake Griffin (22.9 PPG, 8.9 RPG, 4.9 APG), who missed the previous contest with Atlanta due to a knee injury, to come out aggressive. His head-to-head with the similarly-versatile Paul Millsap should be the most intriguing matchup in the game.

Writer’s Prediction

The Clipps win a close one, 110-108.
