MLB World Series News and Previews

New York Mets vs. New York Yankees (7:10 PM ET)

Line: New York Mets (+130) at New York Yankees (-140); total: 8.0view all MLB lines

The Subway Series resumes tonight with Sonny Gray (6-7, 3.39 ERA) and Jacob deGrom (13-5, 3.21 ERA) dueling on the mound. The Yankees took care of business in the series opener as they battled back from an early deficit to beat the Mets, 4-2. Aaron Judge made his presence felt, crushing a solo home run in the sixth inning to record his 36th long ball of the season.

Gray will hope that the Yankees can finally offer him the same run support this evening. In the 12 innings he has pitched for the Bronx Bombers, they have not managed a single run.  Gray will need to be at his best against deGrom who is 9-2 for the Mets since June 7. During that span, deGrom has recorded a 1.82 ERA with 85 strikeouts and 16 walks (79.1 innings).

Writer’s Prediction: Sonny Gray finally gets his first victory as a Yankee.

Chicago White Sox vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (10:10 PM ET)

Line: Chicago White Sox (+295) at Los Angeles Dodgers (-345); total: 8.0view all MLB lines

There’s just no stopping the Los Angeles Dodgers right now. They defeated the San Diego Padres, 6-4, on Sunday to record their 28th win in the last 33 games. Justin Turner starred for the Dodgers in their latest victory, blasting a pair of homers and driving in four runs. He is hitting .346 with 17 home runs and 55 RBI this season. He will look to keep the momentum going against Miguel Gonzalez who’s 6-10 for the White Sox this season.

Gonzalez was superb in his last start against the Houston Astros, allowing just one run on five hits and a walk in eight innings of action. Opposing him this evening is Alex Wood (14-1, 2.37 ERA). The Dodgers love having him on the mound as they have won 14 of their last 15 games with Wood as their starter. He outdueled Zack Greinke in his last outing, surrendering just two runs on six hits in six innings of work.

Writer’s Prediction: Wood keeps his hot streak going as the Dodgers ease past the White Sox.
