The Olympic break has left us lots of time to dissect some of the teams that have recently been profitable for bettors. One example is San Jose, a team that has consistently hit the under in its past few games.
The Sharks and four other teams make it to our latest edition of the Top 5 list.
Top 5 NHL Teams to Bet On:
Teams | Trends |
---|---|
San Jose Sharks | 8-1-1 UNDER in last 10 |
Phoenix Coyotes | 6-0 UNDER in last 6 |
New York Rangers | 5-1 in last 6 |
Toronto Maple Leafs | 5-1 in last 6 |
Philadelphia Flyers | 4-0 in last 4 |
1. San Jose Sharks
[sc:NHL240 ]Trend: UNDER in eight of their last 10
Next Games: @ PHI, @ BUF, @ NJ
The Sharks average 2.8 goals per game on the season, but they are only netting 1.7 in their last 10 games. In addition, their goaltending improved a bit during that stretch, allowing 2.1 goals against per game compared to the team’s season average of 2.3. No wonder the total only went over once in the Sharks’ last 10 games.
2. Phoenix Coyotes
Trend: UNDER in last 6
Next Games: @ WIN, @COL, vs. STL
Phoenix is on the outside looking in for the playoffs with 64 points, but if they can win with the consistency with which they are hitting the over, they’ll have a good shot of making the postseason. They racked up six straight unders before entering the Olympic break.
3. New York Rangers
Trend: 5-1 in last 6
Next Games: vs. CHI, @ PHI, vs. BOS
Henrik Lundqvist held his own against the Penguins to guide the Rangers to a 4-3 shootout win in New York’s last game. It was the Rangers’ fifth win in six games, the minor hiccup being a 2-1 loss to Edmonton on February 6th. Lundqvist has been instrumental in the Rangers’ recent success as the Swedish netminder has put up a 1.92 GAA this month.
4. Toronto Maple Leafs
Trend: 5-1 in last 6
Next Games: @ NYI, @ MON, vs. COL
After a string of losses early in January, the Maple Leafs rebounded by winning 11 of their next 14 games. Toronto continued to play well going into the break, adding a 3-1 win over the Canucks in their last game. Phil Kessel is leading the way for the Maple Leafs with 4 goals, 4 assists, and 8 points in February.
5. Philadelphia Flyers
Trend: 4-0 in last 4
Next Games: vs. SJ, vs. NYR, @ WAS
Philadelphia is a team raring to get back on the ice so it can reignite the streak it was on prior to the Olympics. The Flyers are 4-0 in their last four games, which includes wins over the Kings, Sharks, and Colorado, all of whom currently have at least 68 points each.
