Betting on Boston Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox have played in seven-straight series sweeps, taking four while losing three. After dropping their first three of a nine game road trip, the Red Sox will challenge the Detroit Tigers in Comerica Park.

[sc:MLB240banner ]The Boston squad will come in force against the Tigers, giving Rubby De La Rosa (1-0, 0.00) just his second start this season. De La Rosa impressed in his first start for the Red Sox when he allowed only four hits while striking out eight in Boston’s 7-1 win against Tampa Bay.

David Ortiz could be the difference at the plate for the Red Sox. Ortiz has gone three for four with one homer against Tigers’ starter Drew Smyly.

Boston is 25-11 in their last 36 games against a left-handed starter.

Miguel Cabrera

Betting on Detroit Tigers

The Detroit Tigers cannot seem to get anything going. They hardly look like the top team from AL Central anymore. The Tigers have lost five straight, including a three-game sweep by the Blue Jays in Comerica Park. Now the odds are in their favor against the Red Sox.

Starting for Detroit is left-handed pitcher Drew Smyly (2-4, 4.10 ERA). This may pose a problem for them as they have lost in Smyly’s last four starts, in which he’s gone 0-2 with a 7.20 ERA.

On the other hand, the Tigers may have a saving grace in Miguel Cabrera, who has batted .462 in his last 52 regular-season at-bats against the Boston-based team. A friendly foe may be just what the doctor ordered for Cabrera, who has hit atrociously this month with just one hit in 15 at bats.

The Tigers went over five times in their last six games as a home favorite.

Writer’s Prediction

The Tigers will continue to disappoint when they face the Red Sox. Take the Red Sox at +114  to get some value on your bet.
