Two Cy Young winners are in for a duel at Safeco Field this Thursday. For the Red Sox, it’s David Price, who allowed just two earned runs on five hits in six innings of a 4-2 home win over the White Sox last Saturday. The Red Sox are 6-0 in his last six starts. Hernandez will take the hill for the Mariners, who are 5-1 in Hernandez’s last six starts at Safeco Field against the Red Sox dating back to 2011.

- Nelson Cruz is 9- for-21 with two home runs against Price.
- The Red Sox have a collective .263 batting average against Hernandez.

Pitching:
Porcello picked up a loss in his last start, though he only surrendered two earned runs on five hits with five strikeouts in 6.0 innings of a 5-2 home win over the White Sox on Sunday. The Red Sox are 7-3 in Porcello’s last 10 road starts. As for the Mariners, they’ll send to the mound James Paxton, who was fantastic in seven innings of duty last Sunday, giving up only three earned runs on five hits while punching in 10 Ks in a 6-4 road win over Tampa Bay. The lefty Paxton is 2-0 with a 0.39 ERA in three career starts against Boston.
Hitting:
- Denard Span is 19-for-48 against Porcello.
- Mookie Betts is 17-for-47with six homers this year against lefties as of this writing.

Steven Wright (2-0, 1.21 ERA) vs. Wade LeBlanc (2-0, 3.00 ERA)
Pitching:
Wright did not factor into a win in his last time on the mound but he shut out the Orioles in 6.2 innings of action in a 2-0 win at Camden Yards on Monday. The Red Sox are 6-4 in his last 10 road starts dating back to 2010. Wright will be in a duel with LeBlanc, who picked up a victory after tossing five innings and yielding just two earned runs on four hits in a 5-3 home win over the Halos on Monday. He is 0-0 with a 6.00 ERA in two career starts vs. Boston.
Hitting:
- Kyle Seager is 2-for-6 against Wright.
- The current Red Sox’s roster has a collective .212 batting average against LeBlanc.

Starters: Eduardo Rodriguez (8-1, 3.64 ERA) vs. Mike Leake (7-3, 4.26 ERA)
Pitching:
The Red Sox continue to keep on rolling whenever Rodriguez is on the mound. In Rodriguez’s last start, he allowed only two earned runs on eight hits in a 6-4 road win over Baltimore on Tuesday. The Red Sox are 5-0 in Wright’s last five starts in each of which the pitcher has gone at least five innings long and allowed no more than two earned runs. The Mariners are on a hot streak too with Leake. They are 7-0 in Leake’s last seven starts, including Tuesday’s 6-3 win over the Angels at home in which he allowed only an earned run (home run) on four hits in six innings on the hill.

- Jean Segura is 3-for-4 against Rodriguez.
