The Bills took a longer time than expected before breaking away from the Miami Dolphins in Week 8’s 26-11 win at home over Tua Tagovailoa and company. Buffalo scored only three points after two quarters, but outscored the Fins the rest of the way, 23-8. Josh Allen passed for 249 yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions on 29/42 completions. He also led the team on the ground with 55 rushing yards and a touchdown on eight carries. Sure, the Bills could have played a more consistent football against a lowly team like Miami, but it also showed that they can be imperfect and still demolish a subpar opponent. In other words, the Bills can show up with the same approach and play with the same quality and likely still end up with an easy victory over the going0nowhere Jaguars this coming weekend on the road.
The Bills, who are no. 1 in the NFL with 32.7 points per game, are 5-0-1 against the spread in their last six outings versus a team with a losing record.
Betting on the Jacksonville Jaguars (+14.5)
Regular Season Record: 1-6
Jacksonville fell flat on its face once again. After scoring their first win of the season in Week 6 against the Dolphins at home followed by a bye in Week 7, the Jags got a harsh reminder yet again that they are far from their goals, as they lost to the Seattle Seahawks on the road last Sunday, 31-7. Trevor Lawrence passed for 238 yards and a touchdown with an interception on 32/54 completions against Seattle. The Jags also saw top running back James Robinson leave the game with a foot injury. The good news for them is that Robinson reportedly did not suffer anything serious and he’s day-to-day as of this writing. In the event that Robinson gets ruled out, it will be Carlos Hyde who gets the RB1 tag for the Jags against the Bills. Robinson’s presence might not move the needle all that much for Jacksonville against a stout Buffalo defense, but at the same time, covering the spread at least would seem more possible.
The Jaguars are 4-1-1 against the spread in their last six games in Week 9.
Writer’s Prediction
The Bills win, 30-13.
