Betting on the Jacksonville Jaguars (+1.0)
Regular Season Record: 4-7
The Jaguars pulled off one of the most noteworthy wins in Week 12, as they took down Lamar Jackson and the Jacksonville Jaguars at home, 28-27. Trevor Lawrence outplayed Jackson, passing for 321 yards and three touchdowns with zero picks on 29/37 completions. It was a reminder of why the Jags spent a first-overall pick on Lawrence, and he could remind everyone again of that this week against the Lions’ leaky defense. The Lions are last in the NFL with 28.2 points allowed per game. Travis Etienne picked up an injury in the Ravens game, but early reports make it seem that he’ll just be fine for Week 13. He should be excited to face Detroit’s D that is second-worst in the NFL against the run.
The Under is 4-1 in the Jaguars’ last five games overall.
Betting on the Detroit Lions (-1.0)
Regular Season Record: 4-7
The Lions saw their three-game win streak end on Thanksgiving, as they fell prey to Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills at home, 28-25. If anything, the Bills did not go as wild on offense as some expected them to be opposite Detroit’s much-maligned defense. Without a doubt, the Bills are a bigger threat than Jacksonville, so the Lions can draw some confidence from the fact that they picked off Allen once and sacked him three times. The Bills also had three fumbles (all recovered). Detroit’s offense could also get a shot in the arm this week with rookie Jameson Williams reportedly on the verge of making his NFL debut, which could be as early as Week 13.
The Lions, who are averaging 25.0 points per game, are 4-0 against the spread in their last four outings.
Writer’s Prediction
The Lions win, 28-24.
