Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars are coming off a 40-14 road loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 14. Lawrence couldn’t recreate his magic in Week 12 when the Jags upset the Baltimore Ravens at home. You just don’t know sometimes that you can get to see from watching Lawrence, who went 17/31 for 179 yards and a touchdown with zero interceptions in Week 13’s meeting with the Lions. It’s really not easy for the Jags to match Detroit’s loaded offense, but that should be more attainable in Week 14 against Tennessee, which might have just lost a key weapon to injury. Rookie Treylon Burks suffered a concussion in Week 13, so there’s a chance he misses Week 14. Defensively, the Jags can take advantage of Tennessee’s soft pass protection that is ranked second-worst in the NFL in defensive sack rate.
The Over is 7-1 in the Jaguars’ last eight road games.
Betting on the Tennessee Titans (-3.5)
Regular Season Record: 7-5
Tennessee is now riding a two-game losing skid. After losing to the Cincinnati Bengals at home in Week 12, 27-17, the Titans suffered a 35-10 embarrassment on the road at the hands of the league-leading Philadelphia Eagles. The good news for the Titans is that it should be much easier for them in Week 14 against the wildly inconsistent Jaguars. Derrick Henry struggled in the Philly game with just 30 rushing yards on 11 carries, but the Titans should and would continue feeding him the ball. Henry has the potential to return to form and explode opposite the Jaguars’ run defense that just allowed a couple of rushing scores in Week 13.
The Titans are 5-1-1 against the spread in their last six games versus Jacksonville.
Writer’s Prediction
The Titans win, 23-20.
