The Detroit Lions are on a roll and they would love to keep it going, of course. The Lions will next play the Carolina Panthers, who, despite a bad record, are still very much in contention to win the NFC South division. Betting on the Detroit Lions (-3.0)
Regular Season Record: 7-7
The Lions have seemingly found the right formula and now they can’t stop winning. Detroit is on a three-game win streak after defeating the New York Jets 20-17 on the road last Sunday. Before that, the Lions took down the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Minnesota Vikings. The Lions’ offense is operating like a well-oiled machine, while it’s the defense has gotten better of late. Detroit has scored no fewer than 30 points in two of its last three games during that span. In the same stretch, Detroit has limited two opponents to no more than 17 points.
The Lions are 7-0 against the spread in their last seven games overall.
Betting on the Carolina Panthers (+3.0)
Regular Season Record: 5-9
The Panthers failed to collect a win last Sunday, as they fell prey to the Pittsburgh Steelers at home, 24-16. Carolina quarterback passed for 225 yards and a touchdown with an interception on 14/23 completions but did not do anything that looks promising ahead of Week 16. Still, this is a Panthers team that can still pull off a surprise just as they did on the road in Week 14 against the Seattle Seahawks and when they took down the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at home in dominant fashion in Week 7. Even after a disappointing production in the loss to Pittsburgh, Carolina’s backfield tandem of D’Onta Foreman and Chubba Hubbard can make opposing defenses pay, including a Lions’ stop unit that is bottom-10 in the NFL against the run.
The Panthers are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
The Lions win, 27-22.
