Regular Season Record: 6-7
The Lions are legit. With five wins in their last six games, including their 34-23 victory over the Minnesota Vikings at home last Sunday. Detroit is not the same team that was earlier this season which started with a 1-6 record. It has a realized potential on offense with a ton of talented weapons. The Lions are averaging 26.5 points per game this season, good for fifth overall, but they have done better of late. They have scored at least 31 points in five of their last six outings and a total of 74 in just their last two games. While the Jets remain defensively porous, it’s got the offense to more than compensate for the lapses of their stop unit.
The Lions are 6-0 against the spread in their last six games overall.
Betting on the New York Jets (-0.0)
Regular Season Record: 7-6
If Mike White is healthy enough, he will start for the Jets in Week 15. White has been the more effective starter for the Jets than Zach Wilson, but he got hurt in Week 14’s 20-12 road loss to the Buffalo Bills. White is day-to-day as of this writing with a rib issue but is expected to play. In any case, the Jets will be looking for their defense to show up. New York is fifth in the league with just 18.7 points allowed per game and third with just 301.2 total yards surrendered per contest. This team has a lethal secondary headed by Sauce Gardner who’s been fantastic at his job.
The Jets, who are sixth in the NFL with a 2.81 defensive percentage sack rate, are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games versus a team with a losing record.
Writer’s Prediction
The Jets win, 27-24.
