Outside of the New England Patriots falling to the Baltimore Ravens and the Miami Dolphins winning a game, the biggest shock from Week 9 was the Green Bay Packers’ loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Aaron Rodgers and the Packers will look to redeem themselves at home against the re-energized Carolina Panthers, who continue to thrive without Cam Newton.

Betting on the Carolina Panthers (5-3)
The Panthers finally made up their mind and put quarterback Cam Newton on the IR, which means that their hopes for a playoff spot now largely depends on what Kyle Allen can do under center. Allen will do everything he can, and while he’s not as talented as Newton nor as experienced, he’s been mostly steady. Plus, the Panthers still have the services of running back Christian McCaffrey, who is, without a doubt, the most important player for the Panthers right now. McCaffrey rushed for 146 yards and scored two touchdowns on 24 carries in last week’s 30-20 bounce-back win over the Tennessee Titans at home following a crushing loss at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers. The Panthers’ defense will look to bottle up Aaron Rodgers, who was clobbered in the pocket in Week 9. That’s a tasty info for the Panthers, who lead the NFL with 34.0 sacks.
The Panthers are 5-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last six games.
Betting on the Green Bay Packers (7-2)
It takes a great defense to make Aaron Rodgers look normal, but the Los Angeles Chargers managed to do just that in the Packers’ 26-11 loss to Joey Bosa and company. Rodgers passed for just 161 yards and a touchdown on 23-of-35 completions. He was bothered all game long in the pocket, getting sacked three times for a loss of 22 yards. Moreover, running back Aaron Jones only had 30 rushing yards on eight carries after going off in the previous game against the Kansas City Chiefs. But if there’s one thing about Rodgers, it’s that he’s not someone you wouldn’t expect to go bust in back-to-back games. The return of Davante Adams to the active roster should bolster Green Bay’s offense that is averaging 25.1 points per game. Adams saw action in the Chargers game and caught seven of nine targets for 71 yards. He should be better after another week of practice.
The Packers are 6-4 ATS in their last 10 games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Packers win, 28-23.
