The defending and reigning Super Bowl champions have yet to win consecutive games, but they have a chance to do that in Week 7 when they welcome the Carolina Panthers, who are also searching for the exact same thing. Speaking of the Super Bowl, the Philadelphia Eagles are +1,800 to win Super Bowl 53, while the Panthers are +5,000 to do just that.

Betting on the Carolina Panthers (3-2)
The Panthers mostly had themselves to blame for their 23-17 road loss to the Washington Redskins in Week 6. Carolina allowed the Redskins to gain early momentum, committing all of their three turnovers in the game in the first half. Quarterback Cam Newton passed for 275 yards and two touchdowns an interception on 27-of-40 completions. Rookie wide receiver DJ Moore had two lost fumbles, too, diminishing greatly whatever positive he did in the game. (He had 59 receiving yards on five receptions.) Although the Panthers have the fourth best rushing offense in the league, they will be up against a solid run defense from the Eagles, so Newton will have a bigger responsibility in the passing game to prevent Philadelphia from ganging up on Carolina’s backfield, which is being led by second-year Christian McCaffrey. Having a sturdy offensive should be a big help for the Panthers’ passing attack, as the team has only allowed eight sacks, thus far this season.
The over is 3-1 in the Panthers’ last four games overall.
Betting on the Philadelphia Eagles (3-3)
The Eagles’ offense took flight in Week 6, as the team took advantage of a matchup with a disgruntled New York Giants side to take a 34-13 victory. Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz spearheaded his team’s deconstruction of everything that remained good for the Giants through the first six weeks of football, passing for 278 yards on 26-of-36 completions for three touchdowns with zero interceptions. And even without running back Jay Ajayi, who’s now out for the rest of the season with an ACL injury, the Eagles were able to rack up 108 rushing yards. Wendell Smallwood and Corey Clement form a respectable backfield committee. The two could find open gaps to run through this Sunday, as the Panthers must be very wary of the kind of damage of Wentz can do in the passing attack. Wentz has thrown seven touchdowns in the Eagles’ last three games without getting picked off in that span.
The Eagles are 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS in their last five games at home.
Writer’s Prediction
Philadelphia wins, 27-23.
