The Carolina Panthers are out of contention for a playoff spot following their 30-24 road loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Sunday. The Panthers are 3-2 straight up in their last five outings. Sam Darnold had a solid game, though, in the loss to Tampa Bay. He passed for 341 yards and three touchdowns with an interception on 23/37 completions versus the Bucs. Carolina is just 18th in the NFL this season with 21.1 points per game but has put up an average of 25.7 points in its last three games. Carolina beat the Saints back in Week 3 at home, 22-14.
The Panthers are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games after giving up over 350 total yards in their previous outing.
The Saints are on a roll. Unfortunately for them, it doesn’t matter with respect to their chances to make the playoffs. Nevertheless, they are 3-0 straight up in their last three games, the latest being a 20-10 upset victory on the road over the league-leading Philadelphia Eagles in the City of Brotherly Love last Sunday. In that game, New Orleans’ defense recorded six sacks and recorded an interception while limiting the Eagles down to just 67 rushing yards on 15 carries. New Orleans has allowed just an average of 12.7 points in their last three games.
The Saints are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games after allowing fewer than 15 points in their previous outing.
