Atlanta is reportedly turning ti rookie quarterback Desmond Ridder as their starter the rest of the way in the 2022 NFL season. Ridder is still unproven in the pros, but the Falcons appear to not be contented with him just being a bench ornament this season. Ridder played college football with the Cincinnati Bearcats for four years and during his time with the team, he racked up 10,239 passing yards and over 2,188 rushing yards. If his dual-threat capabilities translates right away in the NFL, the Saints could be in for a surprise. But it could be Cordarrelle Patterson, who would come up with another huge game against the Saints. He had 120 rushing yards and a touchdown on 22 carries in the Falcons’ 27-26 home loss to the Saints back in Week 1.
The Falcons are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games after a bye week.
Betting on the New Orleans Saints (-4.0)
Regular Season Record: 9-3
Like the Falcons, the Saints are also coming off a bye in Week 14. In their most recent outing, the Saints lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 17-16 on the road back in Week 13. New Orleans did a pretty good job defensively in that game until Tom Brady turned it on late in the fourth quarter. Andy Dalton passed for 229 yards and a touchdown with zero interceptions on 20/28 completions against the Bucs, which was at least an acceptable performance from the veteran quarterback, who will look to keep his pride by trying to prevent getting outplayed by the Falcons’ rookie signal-caller. New Orleans is fourth in the NFL overall with opponents scoring just 48.65 percent of their chances in the red zone into touchdowns.
The Saints are 4-1 against hte spread in their last five home games versus a team with a losing record on the road.
Writer’s Prediction
The Saints win, 20-17.
