Betting on the Cincinnati Bengals (+5.0)
Regular Season Record: 12-4
The Bengals are coming off a 24-17 home win over the Baltimore Ravens Sunday in the AFC Wild-Card Round. Joe Burrow passed for 215 yards and a touchdown on 25/42 completions. He also rushed for a touchdown. It was still not a sparkling performance for Burrow, though. The Bengals need more from him when they take on the much more dangerous Bills squad. That said, Burrow and the Bengals’ offense must be licking their chops over the prospect of facing a Buffalo stop unit that got dinged hard by a team that was led by a rookie third-string quarterback in the Wild-Card Round. Plus, Buffalo has allowed its last two opponents to score a total of 54 points.
The Bengals are 4-0 against the spread in their last four games away from Cincinnati.
Betting on the Buffalo Bills (-5.0)
Regular Season Record: 13-3
Buffalo escaped the AFC Wild-Card Round with a 34-31 victory. It was not the type of win that gives the Bills much confidence, but they will take a win any way they could. The hope for Buffalo is that its offense and defense will be more consistent and stable against the Bengals. Josh Allen passed for three touchdowns and two interceptions and finished with 352 passing yards on 23/39 completions versus the Dolphins. That was not an ideal performance from Allen, but in any case, he’ll still be surrounded by excellent weapons. Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis had 114 and 113 receiving yards, respectively, in the Miami game. Cincinnati’s offensive line also appears to be banged up, which could leave Burrow more exposed in the pocket. Buffalo’s defense has to capitalize on that. The Bengals had four defensive sacks and two defensive interceptions agfainst Miami.
The Over is 3-0 in the Bills’ last four home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Bills win, 27-24.
