Betting on the Cincinnati Bengals
Revis Island wasn’t much of a hostile territory for A.J. Green during Cincy’s 23-22 victory over the Jets in Week 1. The explosive wide receiver churned out a massive performance, hauling down 12 catches for 180 receiving yards and a touchdown, mostly while being covered by Revis.Pittsburgh doesn’t have a standout corner yet who could make Green any bit hesitant. He could be in line for another big game, though, that’ll also depend on how tough Andy Dalton’s protection unit is going to be.
Dalton was sacked seven times for a loss of 42 yards against the Jets, yet managed to throw for 366 yards with a touchdown an interception. Pittsburgh didn’t record a sack on Monday against Washington, which is a good sign for Dalton and the Bengals’ offensive line.
Dalton is also apparently enjoying having a new toy down field in former Patriot Brandon LaFell. LaFell torched the Jets’ D for 91 yards on four catches.
Cincinnati is 8-1-1 ATS in its last 10 road games overall.
Betting on the Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers were missing some key pieces on their offense, but DeAngelo Williams, Antonio Brown, and Ben Roethlisberger were more than enough to defeat Washington on Monday, 38-16. They will look to build on their strong performance next week at home, where they are 2-0-1 ATS in their last three games.
Roethlisberger had a field day slicing Washington’s defense, passing for 300 yards with three touchdowns and an interception on 27 of 37 completions. He connected twice in the end zone with Brown, who finished the game with 126 receiving yards on eight receptions. Brown ate the Redskins’ secondary alive and we might just see him do the same (including some twerking) against Cincy next Sunday.
Williams arguably had the bigger game of the three, as he made the most of his opportunity to start in lieu of Le’Veon Bell. He rushed for 143 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries.
Williams is staring at another opportunity to go nuclear with a favorable matchup against Cincy’s defense that was gashed by the Jets for 152 rushing yards. With Williams playing well, he could keep Cincy’s defense honest, thus loosening up coverage on Brown.
Writer’s Prediction
Pittsburgh wins, 31-28.
