Betting on the Pittsburgh Steelers (+2.5)
Regular Season Record: 3-7
Just when it looked like the Steelers have turned things around with a win over the New Orleans Saints in Week 10, Pittsburgh suffered yet another loss this season when it was brought down in Week 11 by the Cincinnati Bengals at home, 27-30. Nevertheless, it appears that Kenny Pickett is getting more and more confident. Against the Bengals, he passed for 265 yards and a touchdown, and without an interception on 25/42 completions. On the season, the Steelers are averaging just 17.0 points per game, but they have scored 50 points total in their last two outings. Indianapolis can be pretty stingy on defense but it’s also susceptible in the red zone where the Colts have allowed opponents to score a touchdown 58.62 percent of the time.
The Under is 5-2 in the Steelers’ last seven Monday games.
Betting on the Indianapolis Colts (-2.5)
Regular Season Record: 4-6-1
The Colts are just 1-4 straight up in their last five games, including their 17-16 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles at home in Week 11. However, as that score suggests, Indianapolis might have come away with a moral victory from that contest, particularly because their defense made it hard for the Eagles, who have one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL this season. Things should get easier for the Colts’ stop unit in Week 12. As mentioned earlier, the Steelers have a low-scoring attack that is being handled mostly on the field by a rookie quarterback. Meanwhile, Matt Ryan and the Colts’ offense could churn out more yards and points this week than in the Philly game. The Steelers have allowed at least 35 points in two of their last three games.
The Colts are 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 games after a loss.
Writer’s Prediction
The Colts win, 24-21.
