Clemson Tigers Fans Plan to Break Kansas City Chiefs Loudest Stadium Record

What is up with being “the loudest stadium” these days?

College football’s Clemson Tigers will try to break the Guinness World Record for “loudest crowd roar in a sports stadium” this coming Saturday in their top-ranked match-up against the Florida State Seminoles.

Can Clemson Tigers Fans at Death Valley Break the World Record for Loudest Stadium Set by Kansas City Chiefs Fans?

And they will attempt that only six days after the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs broke the record at 137.5 decibels, getting their reputation back of having the loudest stadium in the league… which happened only four weeks after the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks set the record (and have said that they plan to get it back).

Those three stadiums want to let the world know that they have the best home field advantage in sports. It is amazing to think that fans can generate so much noise from their passion for the game and for their team. It’s sheer FANDEMONIUM.

Many teams and clubs have rocked some of the loudest, noisiest and rowdiest stadiums in sports — baseball, college football, American football, or association football.

Here are 10 venues that have the potential to formally prove their claim:

Better known by many opponents as “Death Valley” for its reputation as the loudest stadium in college football, as ranked by the NCAA.

In fact, those LSU fans shook the Earth. The night game on Oct. 8, 1988 became known as the infamous Earthquake Game between Auburn and LSU, when the winning touchdown in the fourth quarter resulted in the celebration registering on the Richter scale. LSU won 7-6.

If a packed crowd can do that, I can see them breaking the record.

They host one of the coolest traditions in college football. The Texas A&M faithful practice yelling their game day yells and chants the night before to pump themselves up and they do so up to game time.

The home of the 12th man makes that for an intimidating environment and since the Seahawks kind of like stole their “12th man” property; it could be great payback to them when they enter the record books.

Imagine going against Marcus Mariota and the Oregon Ducks inside one of the loudest stadiums in football?

If you do, better get out while you can.

If you thought Oregon’s uniforms already are vibrant, think about how vibrant can Autzen Stadium be when they are that good.

It also helps that the stadium design amplifies the crowd, so the 50,000 people cheering would make it look like there are 100,000.

camp-nou-fc-barcelona-barca-worlds-loudest-stadiums4. Camp Nou

FC Barcelona’s Nou Camp is the largest stadium in all of Europe, with just under 100,000 in total capacity. They just added a roof which is sure to make the noise all the more deafening when the Catalan fans are in full voice.

It is hard to imagine a more hostile crowd than when Real Madrid comes to town. The last run of Classico matches during the end of the 2012-13 seasons saw the two face each other in a flurry of games, and caused quite uproar for fans at both venues.

With all that, the Nou Camp is no friend to any foe of Barcelona and most teams walk into the Nou Camp expecting a rousing crowd to pump up the volume and the atmosphere for the Blaugrana.

Estadio-Centenario-uruguay-worlds-loudest-stadiums5. Estadio Centenario

Estadio Centenario hosts the Uruguay’s version of El Clásico (Nacional vs. Peñarol) . The intense rivalry further heightened by Nacional’s roots in Uruguayan nationalism, so is its hatred for Peñarol.

What they received was vitriol of the highest order from the Uruguayans.

6. Fenway Park

The Red Sox are so heavily favored to win the AL Crown that you’d actually LOSE money if you bet on them.

Well, not actually, but John Farrell has put together one of the most impressive teams in recent MLB history and they are a win away from the World Series.

Don’t believe the volume level at Fenway, then watch David Ortiz’s grand slam against the Tigers in Game 2 of the ALCS.

busch-stadium-st-louis-cardinals-worlds-loudest-stadiums7. Busch Stadium

Often regarding as the best fan base in all of pro sports, and despite being from a smaller market, St. Louis Cardinals fans have been extremely supportive of their franchise.

Busch Stadium (more beer!) has been a tough venue for opposing teams, and has seen its share of postseason success.  Often packed, the stadium gets loud and intimidating.

Think about it: beer plus passionate fans plus World Series equals total pandemonium.

La-Bombonera-boca-juniors-argentina-worlds-loudest-stadiums8. La Bombonera

The design of Argentine club Boca Junior’s La Bombonera stadium attributes excellent acoustics. It is no wonder that the fans of the club have been called, “La Doce,” the 12th man.

It’s a D-shaped stadium that has fostered such a dynamic atmosphere. Its unusual fourth stand, which is nearly vertical, again adds to the effect of the hostile atmosphere of the stadium, as it will sway when the fans begin to jump in unison.

Just watch an El Superclásico (Boca Juniors vs. River Plate) and you’ll get the idea.

Regardless of the match, it is almost always a packed house, as the Los Xeneizes are backed by their working-class fans to the death, and they always make it a difficult night for the opposition.

Türk-Telekom-Arena-galatasaray-worlds-loudest-stadiums9. Ali Sami Yen Stadium – Türk Telekom Arena

Turkish club Galatasaray has the most hostile stadium in Europe. Whether the team was playing at the old Ali Sami Yen Stadium or the new Türk Telekom Arena, their fans often bring “hell” to visiting teams.

Hours before kickoff, fans were already pouring into the stands screaming, yelling and jumping in unison with chants and signs of “Welcome to Hell.” As televised games stunned audiences across Europe, both stadiums became known as the one place you did not want to visit as an opposing club or fan.

The team stayed in the old stadium until the need for revenue increased with the clubs stature. They then moved in 2011 to the new stadium.

The new ground is on its way back to building that famous atmosphere of intimidation. The crowd delivered a decibel level of 131.76, making them officially the loudest fans in the world (before the Seahawks broke that).

10.  CenturyLink Field

Seattle was the record-holder at 136.6 dBs before Kansas City took it away.

At this point, the Seahawks have built a rivalry with the Chiefs in fighting for the reputation as having the NFL’s loudest stadium. After the Chiefs broke their record last Sunday, here’s what Seattle has to say:

They plan to get their record back against the mighty Saints during Monday Night Football on December 2nd.

Can they get any more #LOUDER?!?
