In the midst of all of their quarterback woes, the Cleveland Browns have signed trick shot video star and former Div. III Quarterback, Alex Tanney, to a deal today.
The Browns have agreed to terms with QB Alex Tanney, the team has announced.

Tanney was the starting quarterback of the Monmouth College Fighting Scots. On October 29, 2011 he actually set the NCAA record for career touchdown passes, and blew up almost every Monmouth record during his time there. He finished his College career with 157 passing TDs (best all-time in the NCAA) and 14,249 passing yards (best all-time in Div. III).
But Tanney’s real claim to fameis the trick shot video he filmed back in 2011. The video went viral and earned him a spot on the History Channel’s “Stan Lee’s Superhumans.” Though Tanney doesn’t have the lustre of a Div. I star, the video is pretty damn impressive:
Tanney had signed with the Cowboys over the offseason but was assigned to their practice squad. In the Cowboys preseason finale, he threw 40 of 73 for 423 yards and one TD. He first signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2012, played in one preseason game, but ended up on the injured reserve list with a finger injury. He was released by the Chiefs in May of 2013.
Whether or not Tanney actually sees the field during a regular season NFL game remains to be seen, but he can’t do much worse than Brandon Weeden.
