Losing Odell Beckham Jr. doesn’t seem to be affecting the Browns all that much. In their first game since parting ways with the wide receiver, the Browns took care of business on the field, taking down the Cincinnati Bengals on the road, 41-16. With or without OBJ, the manner of how Cleveland beat the Bengals was a surprising one. Baker Mayfield threw for two touchdowns and zero interceptions with 218 passing yards on 14/21 completions. Meanwhile, running back Nick Chubb ran all over the Bengals with 137 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries. Chubb has been unstoppable when healthy, and given the vulnerable nature of New England’s run defense, expect the Browns to feed the tailback plenty of touches again.
The Browns are 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 road games.
Betting on the New England Patriots (-0)
Regular Season Record: 5-4
New England continues to pick up steam, as the Patriots followed up their 27-26 road win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 8 with a 24-6 victory against the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte in Week 9. Now, the Patriots return home for the first time since they demolished the New York Jets, 54-13, in Foxborough in Week 7. Mac Jones has been steady under center for the Pats of late, but it’s really New England’s defense that’s powering this run by the team. The Patriots are fourth in the NFL in scoring defense, with just 18.9 points surrendered per contest. Their secondary has been opportunistic, and it should force Mayfield into tough spots. New England is tops in interception rate and also has the most interceptions (13) in the NFL to date.
The over is 2-0 in the Patriots’ last two games as the home team.
Writer’s Prediction
The Browns win, 23-20.
