The Cleveland Browns (+3,300 to win the AFC North) are going to go through some more bad times before they can become a team that’s constantly feared in the league. They’re getting there, though, and beating a Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+2,500 to win the NFC South) team this coming Sunday on the road can put them a step closer to that league status. The Bucs, on the other hand, are looking to snap a three-game skid, as they also search their first win with Jameis Winston as the starting quarterback this season.

Betting on the Cleveland Browns (2-3-1)
Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield reportedly played with an injured ankle in their lopsided 38-14 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers at home. It was a particularly deflating loss for the Browns, as they entered that game coming off a win over a solid Baltimore Ravens squad. Then again, the loss to the Chargers also goes to show everyone how inconsistent and unreliable the Browns are. Having said that, the Browns have already proved they could bite and hold their own against good teams. Tampa Bay is a beatable team for the Browns, as the Bucs’ defense presents tasty opportunity for Mayfield and company to have a field day on the attack. The Bucs are last in the league in scoring defense with 34.6 points per game game allowed and second worst in total defense with 440 yards surrendered per contest.
The Browns are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games.
Betting on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-3)
Following a 34-29 road loss to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 6, the Bucs decided to fire their defensive coordinator and promote one within the coaching staff to fill the position. Of course, fixing a brutal defense won’t happen in just a week for the Bucs, but at least they’ve done something to address the issue. The good thing for Tampa Bay is that their offense looked capable with quarterback Jameis Winston reclaiming his status as the team’s starting quarterback. Winston carved Atlanta’s equally pathetic defense by passing for 395 passing yards on 30-of-51 completions with four touchdowns. He did have a pair of interceptions, but that’s because not everyone can be Aaron Rodgers. Nevertheless, he finished with a 115.4 passer rating, and he could come up with another big game against the Browns’ 20th-ranked pass defense. But it’s the Bucs’ backfield who should be watched closely, as it’s facing the Browns, run defense that’s only 29th in the league.
The over is 5-0 in the Bucs’ last five games.
Writer’s Prediction
Tampa Bay wins, 28-24.
