Pitching:

Clevinger picked up a loss in his last start despite allowing jut two earned runs on four hits with seven strikeouts in a 5-0 loss in Texas on July 22. He had trouble with his control in that game, as he walked four hitters. He is 4-3 with a 2.62 ERA in 10 road starts this season. Hardy is set to make his 10th start of the season this Saturday. In his last 5.2 innings on the mound that spanned three games, he allowed five earned runs on seven hits.

  • Cleveland’s current hitters have a collective .179 batting average vs. Hardy.

Writer’s Prediction:

Cleveland wins, 5-3.

Pitching:

Kluber has pitched poorly of late, allowing nine earned runs on 17 hits in 11.1 innings over his last two starts. That said, he is 2-0 with a 1.13 ERA in two starts this year against Detroit. Liriano has not factored in a decision in each of his last two starts. In his last trip the mound, Liriano went 4.3 innings long and allowed three earned runs on six hits with three walks issued in a 5-4 road loss to Kansas City on July 23. He is 0-2 with a 5.65 ERA in three starts against the Indians this year.

Hitting:

  • Victor Martinez is 15-for-49 with three homers vs. Kluber.
  • Rajai Davis is 14-for-31 with a homer vs. Liriano.

Writer’s Prediction:

Cleveland wins, 6-4.
