Betting on the Colorado Rockies (47-34)

Moneyline: +131

Activated from the 10-day disabled list, Jon Gray is set to make his first appearance later tonight, looking to put an end to the Rockies’ eight-game skid. Colorado lost on the road to the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday, 5-3.

Gray has made just three starts this year before landing on the DL. He has yet to get a decision in those starts with a 4.38 ERA in only 12.1 total innings.

With so little sample size this season to project anything significant for his next starts, the Rockies should better rely on their bats to take over tonight. Although they’re on a lengthy losing streak, the Rockies are hitting well this month, ranking second in the National League this June in batting average and sixth in runs scored. Watch out for Charlie Blackmon in this matchup, as he is 12-for-23 (.522) with a pair of homers in his career against Arizona starter Robbie Ray.

Betting on the Arizona Diamondbacks (50-30)

Moneyline: -141

After back-to-back losses to St. Louis, including Thursday’s 10-4 setback at home, the Diamondbacks will get Robbie Ray the ball in hopes of righting the team’s ship.

The D’backs are catching Colorado in a good time, as the Rockies are in a middle of a losing binge. Moreover, the Rockies have been of late away from Coors Field with the team only having a win in their past 10 road games.

Ray lost his lone start so far this season against the Rockies, allowing three earned runs on five hits with nine strikeouts in 6.2 innings of a 3-1 home loss on Apr. 28. Ray, however, is on some mean stretch, going 6-0 in his last seven starts, during which he has compiled an ERA of 1.29.

Daniel Descalso and Chris Owings own the hottest pair of bats for the D’backs over the last seven days. Descalso is 10-for-24 (.417)in his last six games, while Owings is 8-for-24 (.333) in his last seven.
