Betting on the Colorado State Rams (11-17)
Although Colorado State is going nowhere this season, the Rams can’t be overly underestimated in their matchup against the conference-leading Wolf Pack. In the two teams’ first meeting this season, Colorado State lost to Nevada 76-67 but the Rams managed to cover the 11-point spread as home underdogs on Feb. 3. In addition, the Rams are 4-3 ATS in their last seven games against Nevada. In the original tilt with the Wolf Pack, the Rams leaned on a balanced scoring from their starting unit which had four players scoring in double figures. Che Bob and Anthony Bonner had 13 points apiece, while Deion James and Raquan Mitchell had 12 and 11 points, respectively. They shot just 38.2 percent from the field, but outrebounded Nevada, 39-38. The Rams did a good job on defense in that game, as they shaved off around seven points off Nevada’s scoring average this season, while limiting the Wolf Pack to only 36.2 percent shooting from the floor. The story could’ve been different, too, had the Rams’ leading scorer did not have a salty shooting in that game. Prentiss Nixon leads the Rams with 15.5 points per game, but only had four markers against Nevada in 18 minutes off the bench.
Betting on the Nevada Wolf Pack (23-5)
The Wolf Pack are a much better team than the one that played early February against Colorado State. Nevada owns the 20th best offense in the nation with 83.1 points per game and 43rd with a 47.2 field goal shooting percentage. The Wolf Pack should be a whole lot more comfortable on the court this Sunday, as the rematch with Colorado State will happen at home, where they are 4-1 ATS in their last five games there against the Rams. Nevada’s leading scorer, Caleb Martin, was a force in the first match with the Rams, as he scored 26 points. The Rams had a hard time containing Martin, so they resorted to to fouling him often, which was why the forward went 11-for-14 from the free throw line. Overall, the Wolf Pack made 26 free throws, while Colorado State only had 17. Martin averages 19.6 points per game, while Jordan Caroline is right behind him with 17.0 points per outing. The Wolf Pack should also move the ball more this time. They only had eight assists against the Rams, which was way off Nevada’s season average of 16.3 dimes per contest.
