The Denver Nuggets are looking for a sure thing so that they can balance out their early 2017-18 NBA season record. The Knicks (regardless of them playing at MSG) are a good place to start. Denver is currently 0-3 against the spread when on the road, whereas New York is 1-1 ATS at home.

Betting on the Denver Nuggets (2-3)
The Nuggets have a load of talent across their roster, and it begins at the center position with Nikola Jokic. He may or may not be an All-Star this season considering how much talent there is in the Western Conference, but to kick off the year, he’s averaging an impressive 13.5 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 4.8 assists—all while shooting a ridiculous 55.6 percent from the three-point line.
His 4.8 assists per game are a team-high, which is both a testament to how good his playmaking skills are, as well as (unfortunately) an indictment against how much the team struggles at the point guard spot.
This is why the Nuggets are one of the teams currently looking to trade for disgruntled star guard Eric Bledsoe. But until that happens, the Nugs have Emmanuel Mudiay as their lone point guard on the roster. Players like Will Barton, Jamal Murray and Gary Harris have been tasked with ball-controlling responsibilities, but lacking a true playmaker at the guard position is hardly a recipe for success.
Betting on the New York Knicks (1-3)
The New York Knicks might still be searching for their first win when they face off against the Denver Nuggets. Kristaps Porzingis is adjusting well to being the star. The unicorn is averaging 25.3 points and 7.3 rebounds. Opponents with better defensive squads can capitalize by forcing the big man to move the ball.
Boston employed this strategy coupled with aggressive on ball defense which translated into a 3 of 14 effort from the field. Clearly the Knicks center piece requires more assistance before fans in the Mecca will witness palpable growth. In the Knicks new iteration the other player finding success is Porzingis’ fellow frontcourt partner Enes Kanter. Through three games Kanter is registering a double-double average posting 14.3 points and leads the team with 12 rebounds per game.
New York has played two top squads (Thunder, Celtics) which may speak to their early poor showing. That said, the Knicks rank dead last in nine categories: field goals attempted and made, all three 3-point categories, defensive and total rebounds, assists and total points scored. Moreover, the Knicks rank 29th offensively and 27th defensively. Rookie Frank Ntilikina’s ankle sprain has kept him out of the lineup for all but eight minutes this season. His presence in today’s game remains a game time decision.
Writer’s Prediction:
Denver still has a lot of talent on their roster and are learning how to cope with this new playing style. On the other hand, New York looks lost and will continue that trend Monday night. Pick: Denver Nuggets
