Betting on the Denver Nuggets (54-28 Regular Season)

The Nuggets dug deep and got a sparkling performance from Jamal Murray in Game 2, as they rallied from a 19-point deficit and defeated the Spurs on Tuesday, 114-105, at home. Murray exploded for 21 points in the fourth quarter to erase San Antonio’s lead, with the Spurs seemingly not having any idea on how to stop the former Kentucky Wildcats guard. Denver also found success in running the floor nonstop. The Nuggets had 21 fastbreak points to just six by the older Spurs. Getting as many shots in transition could be the key for Denver to take control of the series. Denver was just 15th in the league back in the regular season with 12.6 fastbreak points per game, but they may have to turn on their boosters more against San Antonio. Game 2 saw Denver’s outside shooting finally click. After hitting just six treys in Game 1, the Nuggets went 10-for-24 from deep on Tuesday.

The over is 3-1 in Denver’s last four road games.

Betting on the San Antonio Spurs (48-24 Regular Season)

Despite losing the chance to go up 2-0 in the series heading into their first time to host a playoff game this season, the Spurs are still feeling good. After all, they stole a win in Denver in Game 1. In addition to that, DeMar DeRozan appears to have finally gotten his stroke back. DeRozan shot just 6-for-17 for 18 points in Game 1, but was way more efficient in the next meeting, dropping 31 points on 11-for-31 shooting from the floor. If LaMarcus Aldridge can get back to his usual form on offense, the Spurs are going to be harder to handle for Denver. Aldridge, who shot 51.9 percent from the field in the regular season, is shooting just 35.9 percent thus far in these playoffs. Another thing the Spurs need to recover is their touch from deep. They have knocked only 12 3-pointers on 33 attempts in the first two games of the series. San Antonio finished the regular season seventh in the league with a 36.4 3-point shooting percentage.

The under is 3-0 in San Antonio’s last three home games.

Writer’s Prediction

San Antonio wins, 110-107.
