Betting on the Detroit Lions (+3.0)

Regular Season Record: 1-3

The Lions can score – a lot. Despite a banged-up roster and missing several main pieces on offense in Week 4, the Lions were still able to score nearly 50 points versus Seattle. Jared Goff threw for 378 yards and four touchdowns with an interception on 26/39 completions, while running back Jamaal Williams was excellent in his starring role out of the backfield, with 108 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries. The Lions were missing D’Andre Swift in Week 4, but judging by the performance of Williams, there won’t be much of a drop on offense if Swift skips another game and the Lions let Williams start anew in Week 5. Once they get healthier in Week 5, expect the Lions to get even more dangerous, at least offensively.

The Lions are 6-0 against the spread in their last six games after allowing over 30 points in their previous outing.

Bet on the Detroit Lions

Betting on the New England Patriots (-3.0)

Regular Season Record: 1-3

The Patriots might have to run with a third-string quarterback in Week 5. Mac Jones is unlikely to be available to play, while Brian Hoyer exited Sunday’s game versus the Packers with a head injury. It could be Bailey Zappe running the show from under center for the Patriots’ offense in Week 5 after looking decent, relatively speaking, against the Packers. Zappe posted 99 passing yards and a touchdown with zero interceptions on 10/15 completions in the Green Bay game. He was sacked three times for a loss of 24 yards, but that’s part of the growing pains – which he will unlikely to experience a lot of versus Detroit’s incredibly lackluster defense.

The Patriots are 14-3 against the spread in their last 17 games in Week 5.
