Manchester City’s title defense has been quite underwhelming this season. League leaders Chelsea own a 13-point lead over second-place City. Part of their struggles is an inability to win away from home, and City have quite a challenge ahead of them in an excellent home team, Tottenham.
Tottenham still have plenty to play for this late into the season. They can secure a Europa League slot with a win after Liverpool stumbled at Hull City in midweek. Can the Spurs grab a crucial win? Read on for our take on this exciting Premier League clash.

Betting on Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspurs are tied with Liverpool at fifth in the Premier League. A win would help send them to the Europa League next season. Taking a victory even against the defending champions isn’t too far-fetched, considering Tottenham’s form at home. Spurs have lost just one of their last 11 Premier League matches at home.
[sc:Soccer240banner ]Harry Kane is always dangerous. His 20 goals lead Tottenham this season. But one must also have an eye on Nacer Chadli, who has scored in each of his last two games. If Chadhi can’t score on his own, then he can at least help create precious opportunities for his teammates. He has five assists this season, just one shy of Nabil Bentaleb’s team-high.
Spurs could see their goal-scoring ways continue at White Hart Lane. Aside from their 1-0 upset against Aston Villa, they have scored at least two goals in their last six Premier League games at home.
But Tottenham have run into some problems against the defending champions. They could not seem to figure out how to get past Manchester City’s questionable defense. They have dropped two of their last three home matches against City, losing by a combined score of 10-2.

Betting on Manchester City
Manchester City barely sweat in their last match against Spurs. They defeated Tottenham 4-1 earlier in the season with all four goals coming from Sergio Aguero. But that victory came at home; City have lost their last four matches away from home. If the Citizens are to break their losing streak on the road, then it’ll be through the boot of Aguero. The talented Argentinian leads the league with 21 goals this season.
Aguero has an excellent supporting cast around him. Jesus Navas, who has a team-high eight assists, could setup Aguero or City’s other talented scorers. Yaya Toure is an anchor in the midfield and is also a force in the attack with eight goals. But City may miss Toure in this match due to a hamstring strain. With Toure out, City may not have the all-important link between offense and defense, especially on the counter attack.
But Man City still have David Silva. Always a force in midfield, Silva has scored the most goals (11) among the Citizens not named Aguero.
While City may excel on the attack, their defense is still quite questionable. They allowed two goals against lowly Aston Villa in their last Premier League fixture at home and have been outscored 9-4 in their current four-game road losing streak.
Writer’s Prediction
City (-113) break their losing streak away from home.
