Florida State’s Jameis Winston Becomes Second Freshman to Win Heisman Trophy

Florida State quarterback and freshman phenom, Jameis Winston has won the Heisman Trophy. He becomes only the second freshman in history to win the coveted award after Texas A&M’s Johnny Manziel took home the hardware a year ago.

Winston was the heavy favorite to win this year’s Heisman with his biggest hurdle coming off the field – a sexual assault accusation that has since been dismissed.

The BCS National Championship bound quarterback has 3820 passing yards and 38 touchdowns. He leads the nation in passer efficiency rating (190.1) and he is on track to setting a new NCAA record in that category. He also leads the nation this season in adjusted QBR (190.1) and yards per attempt with 10.9.
