The Georgetown Hoyas have played their last home game of the regular season, and it was a memorable one. But will Mac McClung and company send themselves into the Big East tournament on a high note by successfully avenging their January loss to the Marquette Golden Eagles this coming Saturday? Or will Markus Howard treat the Bulldogs to a show he failed to let them see in the first meeting? Going into Saturday’s game, NCAA basketball futures list the Hoyas with +50,000 and Marquette with +4,000 odds to win the 2019 Championship, respectively.

Betting on the Georgetown Hoyas (18-11 Overall / 8-8 Conference)
How about them Hoyas? Patrick Ewing’s boys emerged victorious in a double-overtime 77-71 thriller of a win at home on Saturday over the Seton Hall Pirates. Center Jessie Govan came up big against the Pirates, as he scored a team-high 21 points and added 12 rebounds. He wasn’t efficient on offense though with just a 7-for-21 shooting, but that was still good enough to tow Georgetown to a win. Georgetown has plenty of talented scorers other than Govan, which largely explains why the Hoyas are third in the Big East in offensive efficiency and 15th overall in the nation with 81.0 points per game. Among those scorers is freshman Mac McClung, who had 24 points with four 3-pointers, albeit in a 74-71 home loss to Marquette back in January. The Hoyas are not just talented. They’re also unselfish, as evidenced by the fact that they are seventh nationally with 17.5 dimes dished per contest, so look for some surprise performers for the team this Saturday.
Georgetown, which meets the DePaul Blue Demons this Wednesday, is 4-1 agains the spread (ATS) in its last five road games against Marquette.
Betting on the Marquette Golden Eagles (23-5 Overall / 12-3 Conference)
The Golden Eagles defeated Georgetown early this year in enemy territory despite virtually not having the services of their best player. We’re talking about Marquette’s scoring machine junior guard Markus, who played just three minutes before exiting the game for good due to a back issue. Now that he’s back to top form, Marquette is going to be a lot more dangerous for Georgetown to deal with. In the first meeting, it was Sam Hauser who acted as Marquette’s de facto focal point on offense, as he had a game-high 31 points on 10-for-20 shooting from the field to go with four 3-pointers and eight rebounds. Marquette, however, must coax more from its bench, which only chipped in nine points (all coming from Brendan Bailey), while Georgetown’s second stringers had 18. As of this writing, Marquette is third in the conference with 79.5 points and third also in field goal percentage with a 46.8 clip.
Marquette is 5-1 straight up (SU) and 3-2 ATS in its last three meetings with Georgetown.
Writer’s Prediction
Marquette wins, 83-72.
