Betting on the Connecticut Huskies (odds)
Record: 15-2 Overall/4-2 Conference
Connecticut prevented a three-game skid by taking down the Creighton Bluejays at home Saturday, 69-60. Adama Sanogo led the way for the Huskies, who were coming off back-to-back losses to the Xavier Musketeers and the Providence Friars, as he came up with a near double-double of 26 points and nine rebounds in 32 minutes. Connecticut’s offense hasn’t looked right of late, but the Huskies showed in the win over Creighton that their defense can be relied upon to deliver the goods. The Huskies are ninth in the nation in terms of adjusted offensive rating and fourth in adjusted defensive rating heading into the meeting with Creighton.
UConn is 6-4 against the spread in its last 10 games overall.
Betting on the Marquette Golden Eagles (odds)
Record: 13-4 Overall/5-1 Conference
Marquette is in the middle of its best stretch yet of the 2022-23 college basketball season. After beating the Georgetown Hoyas at home last Saturday, 95-73, the Golden Eagles are now on a season-best four-game win streak. The Golden Eagles’ offense has been clicking this season and it’s even gotten better over their last 10 games during which they have posted an incredible offensive rating of 123.0 – second-best nationally in that span. They don’t shoot a lot of 3-pointers, but their game inside the arc is better than most in the nation, as evidenced by the fact that Marquette started Saturday third overall with a 60.5 FG% on 2-point attempts.
Marquette is 4-0 against the spread in their last four games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
Connecticut wins, 73-70.
