Betting on the Georgia Bulldogs (+21.5)
Record: 5-12 Overall/0-4 Conference
It’s a long season for Georgia, which remains winless after four games in SEC play. Moreover, they are 0-6 straight up in their last six games overall. The Bulldogs are coming off a 73-66 home loss to the Vanderbilt Commodores last Saturday in which Georgia looked like it was on its way to breaking out of its slump when it outscored Vanderbilt in the first half by eight points. There are big problems on both ends of the floor for Georgia this season. The Bulldogs are averaging just 70.8 points per game, while also allowing ao 75.1 points per contest. But before completely dismissing Georgia as a team that’s going to be crushed this Wednesday by Auburn, consider the fact that the Bulldogs scored an 82-79 upset win over the Memphis Tigers at home back in December.
The over is 7-3 in Georgia’s last 10 games overall.
Betting on the Auburn Tigers (-21.5)
Record: 16-1 Overall/5-0 Conference Conference
Auburn has been on fire. Bruce Pearl’s unit is on a 13-game win streak and has started conference play with five wins in a row. The Tigers’ latest victim was the Ole Miss Rebels on the road last Saturday during a dominant 89-65 victory. The Tigers shot 63.6 percent from the field against Ole Miss and were led by Walker Kessler, who dropped 20 points to go with 10 rebounds. Auburn has four players averaging at least 10.0 points per game, with Jabari Smith leading the group with 16.1 points per outing. The Tigers, who are 12th in the nation with 80.6 points per contest, should have an easy time carving up Georgia’s porous defense. And they should also make life even harder for the Bulldogs’ offense, especially around the rim. The Bulldogs are tops in the nation with 8.2 blocks per game and also no. 1 with a block rate of 14.0 percent.
Auburn is 9-1 against the spread in its last 10 games overall.
Writer’s Prediction
Auburn wins, 91-64.
